Ronen Izhaki (M.Mus) is a dancer, choreographer, founder and director of the "Between Heaven and Earth" dance center.
Born in Israel in 1972, Ronen studied under Prof. Ruth Ziv Ayal and graduated with Bachelor and Masters’ degrees from the Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem. Ronen has worked as an independent choreographer since 2002, and his works have been performed in different theatres and festivals in Israel, Europe, the USA and the Far East.
Ronen has taught Theater-Dance at the Kibbutzim Seminary Performing Arts School in Tel-Aviv, and also taught dance movement at the Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem. Currently, Ronen teaches dance-movement as part of the activities at "Between Heaven and Earth". He also manages various dance productions in Israel and around the world: an annual dance festival (www.docdance.com), Ka'et Ensemble – a cooperative dance group of Jewish-religious men (www.kaet.org.il), "Kol Atzmotai Tomarna", "Between Heaven and Earth"'s theater-dance school (www.othermove.com) , and multidisciplinary projects which aspire to connect content of temporary culture to the Jewish world.
As part of his workshop, Ronen explores, together with the participants, the relationship between an image and a feeling, between the abstract and the concrete. This is the framework for practical research of sensory experience and its relationship to the shape it produces.
